A Visit to an old Folk House and Onigiri Workshop
Making and Tasting Onigiri (rice balls) and Miso soup, the basics of Japanese food. See the ancient Japanese life house about 300 years old.
Overview
The Toyama house in Tenkawamura village, Yoshino-gun, Nara Prefecture, is an old private house where the Toyama family, who made their living from forestry and agriculture, actually lived until about 25 years ago. They have grown rice and vegetables, the staple foods of Japan, and hand-made tofu, miso and konnyaku, which are commonly used in Japanese cuisine. Life in the mountains was naturally self-sufficient and highly sustainable. Devices for conducting weddings and funerals at home and ways of worshipping gods and Buddha can also be seen. See first-hand how the ancient Japanese people lived in harmony with nature, and try your hand at making onigiri (rice balls) and miso soup, a simple Japanese meal.
🍵In case of rain or other bad weather conditions, the Walking will be replaced by a tea ceremony experience.🍵
