Exclusive Online Beginner Lesson for 【Shingetsu】 Kit Buyers
Introductory Lesson for Purchasers
of the Studio CIRCORO
Simple Kintsugi Kit [Shingetsu]
This special introductory lesson is exclusively for those who have purchased the CIRCORO Simple Kintsugi Kit [Shingetsu].
In this session, we will first explain the tools and materials included in the kit, followed by a brief talk about urushi lacquer and the philosophy of kintsugi.
Then, you will work hands-on with your kit, aiming to complete your repair by the end of the lesson.
Together, let’s experience the process of transforming a broken vessel into something with a new kind of beauty.
At CIRCORO, we value an approach to kintsugi that uses traditional urushi lacquer while adapting it for modern life.
You will experience the Japanese spirit and aesthetics of cherishing and continuing to use things by giving new life to a once-broken piece.
Unlike most simplified kintsugi workshops that use synthetic lacquer, our lessons use natural urushi.
All adhesives and fillers used to join or mend the broken pieces are safe materials that comply with Japan’s Food Sanitation Law.
The final finish is done with natural urushi, allowing you to experience a process close to traditional kintsugi.
Of course, the repaired piece can be safely used in daily life.

~Practical Steps~
Step 1|Adhesion & Filling
With the instructor’s guidance, you will carefully align and glue the broken pieces, and fill in chips using putty.
While traditional kintsugi uses only natural materials and requires long drying times, the Shingetsu Kit uses safe materials that comply with the Food Sanitation Law, allowing you to complete the process more quickly.
Step 2|Smoothing
Any excess adhesive or putty is sanded down with sandpaper to create a smooth surface—an essential step for a beautiful finish.
Step 3|Undercoating
A thin layer of urushi lacquer is carefully applied with a brush. Slow, steady brushstrokes are the key to an even coating.
Step 4|Final Decoration
Finally, metal powder is applied to the repaired areas. Enjoy this magical moment as the broken lines are transformed into shimmering beauty!
