We visited Japan and chose this workshop based on Instagram recommendations. The atmosphere was nice and the staff were friendly at first, but the overall experience was disappointing.
First, the staff’s knowledge of making handmade silver rings seems not professional—almost like new employees on the job. We only learned on-site that certain designs couldn’t be made (for example, adding birthstones would require waiting 5–6 weeks and could not be shipped overseas). There were also various additional fees, but the staff seemed unclear about the details and couldn’t explain them properly.
Second, after we finished making the rings, they were taken for further processing. During this time, we heard the sound of rings dropping on the floor multiple times. The workshop's price wasn’t cheap, but it felt like they weren’t handling the pieces carefully.
Third, we were only informed on-site that an extra few thousand yen was required for a coating to prevent oxidation and darkening. Since we wanted the rings to be more durable, we agreed to pay for it. However, within less than a week of use, all four of our rings started to darken to varying degrees. This made us doubt whether the coating had even been applied.
Fourth, we also paid extra to have text engraved inside the rings, but the result was unclear—the letters looked blurred and stuck together, and they weren’t properly aligned. The overall finish felt rough. After the workshop, there was no packaging box or bag provided for the rings. We had to ask for one, and they eventually gave us a plastic bag.
Finally, the staff seemed rushed—as if they were in a hurry to finish work or go for a meal—and quickly ushered us out.
If needed, I can provide photos of the rings as proof. I hope to receive a response and follow-up on this matter. Thank you.
