Factory tour of Masuya Takao, a company of Kyoto Nishijin Textile
Masuya Takao, a company of Kyoto Nishijin Textile, opens its obi weaving factory to the public. At the same time, weaving experience using original gold thread called "Nenkin-shi" is held.
The fabric weaved in the weaving experience will be made into a part of the smartphone pouch and delivered later.
The smartphone pouch is designed in the shape of a tabi pouch, which is also used in tea ceremonies.
The design allows you to feel Japanese culture.
At the Masuya Takao factory, hand weaving machines and machines are always in operation, so you can see the craftsmen's skills up close. Please feel the real Nishijin.
For the weaving experience, hand machines that are currently used are available.
This tour course is very popular among participants.
Flow of plant tours
During the tour, you will first learn about the characteristics of Nishijin Textile and Masuya Masuo along with actual tools and photos.
Please feel free to participate even if you are not familiar with textiles.
After the explanation, it was time to choose the color of the base fabric of the smartphone pouch, the fabric to be woven, and the string.
The base fabric is all woven with "Nenkin-shi." Available in 4 colors.
Please enjoy the exquisite color by holding it in your hand.
There are 5 types of fabric that you can weave for your experience: pink, gold, green, blue and silver.
This fabric also uses "Nenkin-shi."
There are 7 types of cords.
We recommend the original twisted string made of "Nenkin-shi."
If you look closely, you can see the core thread wrapped around the foil.
7 colors of "Nenkin-shi" are used for the twisted string in the image of a rainbow.
You can make your own smartphone pouch by combining with base fabric or woven fabric.
In the weaving experience, you can weave at your own pace while facing the machine carefully.
Our craftsmen will support you until the end, so please feel free to join us.
Finally, we visited the factory.
You can see the state of hand weaving machines and machines with an explanation from a craftsman who actually weaves obi.
In addition to the weaving experience, you can also experience making tassels using "Nenkin-shi" as an option.
It is also recommended to use the tassel as a set with the smartphone pouch you made, or to attach it to your bag.
