Since the end of last year, I’ve started a simple new habit — marking each day with a red circle on a ¥100 calendar from Daiso.
It’s very simple, but it helps me clearly see how many days have passed and how many are left in the month.
Even though 2026 is the age of AI, sometimes the most analog method works best 😂

わたしは「時間管理」です。

去年の年末から１つ習慣にしていることがあります。

これをすることで、何日過ごしたのか、あと何日今月は残っているのか、といったことがシンプルですが、視覚化されて、明確になります。AIが主役の2026年ですが、こんなアナログな方法が１番です😂

New York Style YOGAは、ヴィンヤサヨガがメインのプログラムです。

ヴィンヤサのクラスというのは、先生がオリジナルでシークエンスを作るので、講師の力量やセンスによってクラスの内容が大きく変わります。

そのため、どんな先生にクラスをお願いするかがとても重要です。

複数、しかも別々の方面からの噂を通じて「チサカ先生」というヨガの先生の存在を、知りました。

チサカ先生のSNS（インスタグラム） を拝見すると、カルド池袋店や渋谷店ですごく人気であること、自主開催のクラスを毎週土曜日の夕方に白金高輪で開催されていることなどから、実力のある先生だとすぐにわかりました。

すぐに、白金高輪にあるen yoga studioさんへ、チサカ先生の自主開催 クラスを受けにいきました。とてもよいヴィンヤサのクラスで、すぐにNew York Style YOGAのスタジオでレッスンをしてもらえないか相談をしました！

年末の忙しい時期に、時間をつくって渋谷神泉のNew York Style YOGAスタジオを見に来てくださりました。

クラスの最初、ウォーミングアップからとてもユニークなフローで動いていきます。

楽しく動くだけでなく、後屈やアームバランスなどのポーズを深めるタイミングと、ヴィンヤサで呼吸に合わせてテンポよく動きていくパートがあり、やりごたえのあるクラス、そして最後のシャヴァアサナは、とてもリラックスができました。

In yoga philosophy, it is believed that there are three gods who govern creation, preservation, and destruction. Brahma is the god of creation, Vishnu the god of preservation, and Shiva the god of destruction.

When I started the studio in 2024, I was completely absorbed in the energy of creation. It was a year driven by excitement, ideas, and momentum. On the other hand, 2025 — a year that required the energy of preservation — turned out to be more challenging than 2024.

To sustain something requires a different kind of energy from creating it: different skills, patience, and resilience. That is why I now feel an even deeper respect for yoga studios and businesses that have been running for many years — sustaining something over time is truly remarkable.

Thankfully, it was the Ashtanga yoga teachers and students who supported the studio through its more difficult times. Ashtanga yogis do not easily skip their practice — even during the intense summer heat or long holiday weekends.

For a short period of time, Gigi also helped with the studio, bringing a fresh and uplifting energy into the space. Shuno and Satoshi, their presence truly felt like a new breeze for the studio. Thanks to these teachers, the second half of 2025 allowed me to welcome many new students — people I had never met before — into the studio.

In this way, running a yoga studio is never easy, but growing it step by step with the help of wonderful teachers is a journey I feel deeply grateful for.

先生たちのおかげで、2025年の後半は、いままでお会いしたことのない生徒さんをたくさんスタジオでお迎えすることができました。

このように、ヨガのスタジオはなにかと大変ですが、先生たちに協力していただきながら、すこしずつスタジオを育てられることは、とても幸せな道のりです。

【 Japanese 🇯🇵 】1月のニュースレター📧2025年ありがとうございました

Starting in December, we welcome a new teacher, Satoshi, who will be leading classes on Tuesdays and Saturdays. He is our first male instructor!

With over 10 years of experience teaching step aerobics at fitness studios, he also runs his own studios in Sangenjaya (Setagaya) and Myogadani (Bunkyo).

Originally a Pilates instructor, Satoshi specializes in classes that allow you to take your time in each pose and explore your body with awareness.

He is also able to teach comfortably in English.

At the end of the week, why not create a moment to reset yourself at the studio?

Join us on Friday evenings in the busy heart of Shibuya for a meditation gathering.

Let’s practice finding quietness within ourselves.

Gigi’s last class at our studio—after teaching with us from August through October—was held on Tuesday, November 25.

She was also scheduled to substitute the morning class on Saturday, November 29, but unfortunately injured her left hamstring. Because we want her to fully take care of her body, we decided to cancel the Saturday morning class.

Although her time with us was short, Gigi poured so much love and energy into the studio.

These three months working with her brought such color and warmth to our community.

Originally, I (Mika) hoped to teach our regular New York Style YOGA class on November 29.
However, I had already committed to speaking at the anniversary event of I.I.M.U.N. Japan on the same day. I can return to the studio by 10:30, but since there is a chance I may be late, I decided not to hold the class.

I will be giving a 30-minute presentation in front of many participants from India, so I plan to dedicate my energy to preparing for it!

We are planning a special New Year’s Double Mysore Class with Tomohiko and Naho on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026.
After the Mysore practice, both teachers are planning a casual lunch gathering with everyone.

Starting in December, we welcome a new teacher, Satoshi, who will be leading classes on Tuesdays and Saturdays. He is our first male instructor!

With over 10 years of experience teaching step aerobics at fitness studios, he also runs his own studios in Sangenjaya (Setagaya) and Myogadani (Bunkyo).

Originally a Pilates instructor, Satoshi specializes in classes that allow you to take your time in each pose and explore your body with awareness.

He is also able to teach comfortably in English.

Gigi’s Final Class

Gigi’s last class at our studio—after teaching with us from August through October—was held on Tuesday, November 25.

She was also scheduled to substitute the morning class on Saturday, November 29, but unfortunately injured her left hamstring. Because we want her to fully take care of her body, we decided to cancel the Saturday morning class.

Although her time with us was short, Gigi poured so much love and energy into the studio.

These three months working with her brought such color and warmth to our community.



A Personal Challenge

Originally, I (Mika) hoped to teach our regular New York Style YOGA class on November 29.
However, I had already committed to speaking at the anniversary event of I.I.M.U.N. Japan on the same day. I can return to the studio by 10:30, but since there is a chance I may be late, I decided not to hold the class.

I will be giving a 30-minute presentation in front of many participants from India, so I plan to dedicate my energy to preparing for it!



Ashtanga New Year Mysore Practice

We are planning a special New Year’s Double Mysore Class with Tomohiko and Naho on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026.
After the Mysore practice, both teachers are planning a casual lunch gathering with everyone.

-Begin the class with some light stretching and preparing our body and mind for meditation.

-After the body is warm and we’re more grounded and connected to the body, we will move into a guided meditation phase. I want this to be accessible for people who both those who have meditated before and those who haven’t.

-After the guided meditation we will do some energy based movement related to Tai Chi in order to finally bring out the positive energy we’ve felt during the meditation.

-Finally everyone is encouraged to take a moment to journal about what they experienced or have a brief moment to collect their thoughts, or perhaps have some tea in a group.

Our night guided meditation will be more for relaxation. You will learn body connectivity techniques. And if we build our meditation community, Mars will teach us a different techniques that take you a more visual journey that can reveal the state of mind.

-クラスは軽いストレッチから始め、心身を瞑想に向けて準備します。

-体が温まり、よりグラウンディングし、身体との繋がりが深まったら、ガイド付き瞑想へと移ります。瞑想経験の有無に関わらず、どなたでもご参加いただけるようにしたいと思っています。

We begin with Vyayamas to awaken the respiratory system, open the chest, and prepare the body for deeper breathing. Then we explore classical Pranayama, the 4th limb of yoga according to Patanjali, to balance the nervous system, calm the mind, and expand vital energy.

Nadia's Yoga Pranayama and Yoga Nidra｜Meditation Friday in Shibuya

From August, she began teaching regular classes, and before long, more and more students gathered around her.
She brought to our studio the beautiful, relaxing Candle Yin class — a true gem — and has been such a reliable and inspiring presence for all of us.

We all instantly fell in love with Gigi’s gentle, soothing energy.
She often brought homemade sweets to class, and those small moments became precious memories filled with warmth and happiness.

Then, in mid-October, Gigi told me that she would be moving to Yakushima in December.
Hearing the news, I couldn’t help but feel deeply sad.
I thought about how much her students would miss her, and how I would be losing such a trusted teacher and dear friend.
But as her friend — and with immense gratitude — I decided to wholeheartedly respect her new adventure.

This final month with Gigi will surely bring both joy and moments of sadness.
I want as many students as possible to experience her classes before she leaves, and we’ll do everything I can to support her.

Gigi先生、屋久島へ引っ越します

Gigiが最初にクラスをしてくれたのは、7月16日、火曜夜のクラス。

8月からは、レギュラークラスを担当してくれて、どんどん、生徒さんも増え、スタジオにキャンドルYINのリラックスクラスを提供してくれたり、本当に、頼もしくて、素晴らしい存在でした。

ジジの東京ヨガコミュニティー

Gigiのやさしい空気感をわたしたちは、すぐに大好きになりました。いつも手作りのお菓子をクラスに持ってきてくれて、わたしたちは、幸せな時間を過ごしていました。

ですが10月の中旬、Gigiに12月に屋久島へ移住することを聞かされ、その時は、純粋に悲しい気持ちでした。

生徒さんが悲しむだろうこと、頼れる先生を失ってしまうこと、いろいろと心に思いがめぐりました。

ですが、Gigiの友人として、そして感謝の気持ちを込めて、彼女の新しい挑戦を応援しようと心を決めました。

Gigiとの最後の１ヶ月間は、きっと楽しいだけでなく、寂しい気持ちもたびたび浮かぶと思いますが、１人でも多くの生徒さんにGigiのクラスを受けてもらえるよう、出来る限りのサポートをしようと思っています。

8月からは、レギュラークラスを担当してくれて、どんどん、生徒さんも増え、スタジオにキャンドルYINのリラックスクラスを提供してくれたり、本当に、頼もしくて、素晴らしい存在でした。



ジジの東京ヨガコミュニティー

Gigiのやさしい空気感をわたしたちは、すぐに大好きになりました。いつも手作りのお菓子をクラスに持ってきてくれて、わたしたちは、幸せな時間を過ごしていました。



ジジからの突然のニュース

ですが10月の中旬、Gigiに12月に屋久島へ移住することを聞かされ、その時は、純粋に悲しい気持ちでした。

生徒さんが悲しむだろうこと、頼れる先生を失ってしまうこと、いろいろと心に思いがめぐりました。

ですが、Gigiの友人として、そして感謝の気持ちを込めて、彼女の新しい挑戦を応援しようと心を決めました。



最後の１ヶ月間

Gigiとの最後の１ヶ月間は、きっと楽しいだけでなく、寂しい気持ちもたびたび浮かぶと思いますが、１人でも多くの生徒さんにGigiのクラスを受けてもらえるよう、出来る限りのサポートをしようと思っています。

Gigiのクラスに定期的に参加してくださっているみなさん、

残りのクラス、どうか出来る限り参加してあげてください。

みなさんがきてくれればGigiは喜びます。

ぜひ、一度、Gigiに会いにきてください。
